General Rules
1   Stress and the "N-O-I-S-E" rule :
a) The noise rule reminds us that in Spanish, if a word ends in 'n' or 's' or a vowel, the stress or emphasis is placed on the
second from last syllable. Examples : tengo, hermana, salen, compras, incidente.
b) If the last letter is anything else, then the stress or emphasis falls on the last syllable. Examples : animal, hospital, Madrid
c) If this rule is ever broken, it will be indicated with an accent over the stressed syllable. Example : una invitación

2 ci & ce are always pronounced 'th'

3 Words ending in -ción are feminine. Examples : una invitación, la estación, la competición

4 The present tense 'we' version of verbs is formed by removing the 'r' and adding 'mos' (e.g. come(r)mos, habla(r)mos, sali(r)mos)
 - with just one exception : ir (to go) is not imos but vamos !!
